"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." ~ Matthew 25:35
 |
We take Jesus' words to feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, clothe the naked and visit the sick and impoverished very seriously. Therefore we offer many opportunities for adults, youth and families to reach beyond the four walls of our church into the greater Birmingham community and beyond.

Here are some more examples of current mission projects in which we are engaged:
|
- Riverchase Baptist participates in mission offerings for national and international missions through the Southern Baptist Convention and through the CBF Offering for Global Missions.
- The annual Annie Armstong Easter Offering gives Riverchase Baptist members the opportunity to financially support and pray for our Southern Baptist Missionaries who serve in North America. This offering supports our missionaries who serve with the North American Mission Board (NAMB). Named for Annie Armstrong, a missionary who served "home" missions in North America, this offering is a tribute to her vision as a tireless servant of God and a contagious advocate and supporter of mission efforts throughout North America and the world.
- The annual Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is a special time for our the Riverchase Baptist family to participate with other Southern Baptists by providing for our mission work all over the globe. This offering supports our missionaries who serve with the International Mission Board (IMB). Named for Lottie Moon, a missionary from the USA who served in China for over 39 years, this offering is a tribute to her sacrifice for Jesus Christ, and a reminder of the sacrifice missionaries still make today.
- The CBF Offering for Global Missions goes to field personnel salaries, benefits and ministry expenses. This offering is the primary way CBF field personnel are funded, making your gifts an essential part of spreading the Gospel and meeting physical needs in the world.
- Riverchase Baptist provides dinner on the third Monday of each month for an average of fifty residents and staff at Jessie's Place, a residential program for women and children who are homeless and are seeking food and shelter on the way to becoming self sufficient.
- On Friday afternoons Riverchase Baptist volunteers staff the Shelby Baptist Association's Earthly Treasures Shop. This shop offers clothing and other items for persons in need. Items are sold for .25 to $1.00. The funds generated are used to help families with food, medication, utility bills and other emergencies.
- Riverchase Baptist collects toys, clothing and other items and provides volunteers to assist in the Shelby Baptist Association Christmas Gift Shop. This ministry provided a complete Christmas for 819 children in 2008 and helped 387 families at Christmas-time.
- Our teenagers will travel to M-Fuge in Charleston, SC in the summer of 2010 to participate in children's, social, and community missions in that area.
- Riverchase Baptist's members annually sponsor 10-20 children through the Shelby Baptist Association Angel Tree Christmas Project.
